On May 20, 1993, Julie and Doug Nitz opened Custom Floors and More, Inc. for business in Belleville, Illinois. Still family-owned and operated 24 years later, they’re rapidly expanding! Owners Julie and Doug Nitz take pride in the fact that their company is looking towards longevity with the incorporation of second generation owner, Brandon Nitz. They are thrilled to have their son, an SIUE graduate, working full-time in both production and sales for the company. Carrying on the family tradition even further, Julie’s brother, Joel, is a salesperson for the company and has 20 dedicated years of experience with Custom Floors. Many other family members in the area have had the chance to contribute to CFM’s success as well.
Serving both residential and commercial properties with their award-winning talents, CFM specializes in flooring (hardwood, tile, carpet, custom rugs, laminate and vinyl), custom tile showers and tile projects like backsplashes and tile walls. Located on Old Collinsville Road, the CFM showroom is complete with one of their custom tile showers and a new laminate room. This ensures that customers get to see real life examples of CFM’s creative design skills and intricate craftsmanship.
When Julie and Doug Nitz started the company, they had a different concept than the typical flooring store. They wanted to help the customer from start to finish with the project – flooring, color, details and the right product working together to create a unique outcome for each customer. Custom Floors isn’t like big box hardware stores where you can wander aimlessly through the flooring section not knowing where to start; they operate by appointment only to guarantee a one-on-one consultation for the best experience possible.
Each customer is entitled to the best quality service that exists. From the initial appointment to the installation and beyond, CFM is there every step of the way. Doug, Joel and Brandon carefully measure each house/building to make sure that the right amount of material is ordered. From here they are able to give advice as well as answer all questions pertaining to each customer’s home. This allows each customer to make educated decisions with the advice and guidance from experienced professionals. Custom Floors salespeople, Julie and Doug Nitz, Joel Keel, and Brandon Nitz, are not satisfied with simply getting the job done; their job is not finished until the flooring is installed and the customer is satisfied.
